Societe Generale: The decline in the pound and UK government bonds is much smaller than in 2022

According to Jinshi data on January 9th, after concerns about the significant drop in UK government bonds and the increase in borrowing in the UK and the slowdown in the UK economy, the pound has rebounded from its earlier lows. Kit Juckes, an analyst at BNP Paribas, stated in a report that the decline in the pound and UK government bonds is ‘much smaller’ compared to the market turmoil caused by former UK Prime Minister Theresa May in 2022, and it is unlikely to become so severe.
