On October 1st, Jinshi Data reported that the US Department of Energy said on Monday that the United States has purchased 6 million barrels of oil for the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR), which will be delivered until May 2025. The department said that Exxon Mobil will provide 3.5 million barrels of crude oil, Shell will provide 2 million barrels, and Macquarie Group has provided 500,000 barrels, with a total cost of over $411 million. From February to May next year, these sour crude oil will be transported to the Bayou Choctaw storage point in Louisiana at a rate of 1.5 million barrels per month.
