According to the report of Russian news agency TASS on September 2, Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov said during a meeting with students and teachers at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations that Russia and Iran will soon reach a new comprehensive partnership protocol. This will be a symbolic step in the relationship between Russia and the new leadership of Iran. Previously, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Ryabkov and Iranian Ambassador to Russia Jalali have both stated that Russia and Iran are ready to sign the relevant protocol and will do so soon.
