Shares of chipmaker Infineon also pumped. Janet Mui, head of market analysis at RBC Brewin Dolphin, said: "The pick-up in Capital Market activity is likely to provide an even bigger boost as the economy emerges from the recession and sentiment generally improves. "Investors have also adjusted their bets on Fed policy, with Friday’s weak U.S. jobs data rekindling expectations of about two rate cuts by the end of the year.
