MetaMask expands its coverage of crypto debit cards in the United States

Techub News reports that after a one-year pilot, MetaMask is expanding its blockchain-based debit card coverage in the United States and has received its first license to operate in New York State. The card is jointly developed by Mastercard and cryptocurrency payment provider Baanx. It was initially launched in August 2024 for limited use among thousands of users in the EU and the UK, allowing them to spend USDC, USDT, and wETH stored on Linea. The US pilot program began in December 2024.

MetaMask states that the card is now usable at all locations accepting Mastercard, including digital wallets like Apple Pay and Google Pay, and offers on-chain cashback rewards and earnings on unspent balances through DeFi protocols.
