The most commonly used overseas brokerage for Taiwanese investors in US stocks, Interactive Brokers, has recently enabled retail investors to deposit funds using stablecoins. According to a video released by the service provider, users can deposit via USDC on the Base, Solana, and Ethereum chains, reducing deposit costs, operating 24/7 year-round, and allowing funds to arrive within seconds. Currently, this feature is only available to US investors, but Interactive Brokers has stated that it will gradually expand access.

Interactive Brokers Opens Stablecoin Deposits for US Retail Investors

Bloomberg reports that giant US brokerage firm Interactive Brokers has allowed retail investors to fund accounts with stablecoins. Interactive Brokers is a platform used by many overseas individuals for trading US stocks. For example, Taiwanese investors typically trade US securities through overseas brokers or via correspondent accounts. Among overseas brokers, Interactive Brokers and Firstrade are the main players. Allowing stablecoin deposits could eliminate expensive transaction fees and enable funds to arrive within seconds, saving time compared to traditional processes.

However, this stablecoin deposit feature is currently limited to the US region. Interactive Brokers has indicated that it will gradually open up access.

Interactive Brokers Enables USDC Deposits on Ethereum and Other Chains

It is understood that the stablecoin deposit service is provided by Zerohash, a payment infrastructure company invested in by Interactive Brokers. Zerohash completed its Series D funding round on September 23 this year, raising $104 million from investors including Morgan Stanley, Interactive Brokers, and Apollo Global Management.

According to a video released by Zerohash the day before yesterday, users can deposit via USDC on the Base, Solana, and Ethereum chains, lowering deposit costs, operating 24/7 year-round, and ensuring funds arrive within seconds.
