DWF Labs is accused of losing more than 44 million USD in a cyber attack in 2022 carried out by the AppleJeus hacker group linked to North Korea. According to on-chain investigations, DWF's wallet 0x3d67fd… was compromised in September 2022, primarily losing USDC and USDT.
Previously, this wallet had traded with Yield Guild Games and MagnifyCash, coinciding with DWF's announcement of a strategic partnership. The hacker had been withdrawing funds for several hours via Ren Protocol, converting them to Bitcoin and then laundering through Mixero, mixing with assets from other hacks such as Deribit and Tower Capital. Currently, there are still over 30 million USD worth of BTC unspent. DWF Labs has not commented on the incident. According to BeInCrypto, North Korean hacker groups have stolen approximately 2.83 billion USD in digital assets since 2024, highlighting an increasing cybersecurity threat to the cryptocurrency industry.
