Jin10 data reported on October 30, sources say that global commodity trader Mercuria is shipping over 30,000 tons of aluminum from Port Klang, Malaysia to New Orleans, USA, believed to be to meet the demands of its American clients. Multiple industry insiders have stated that since May of this year, Mercuria has held over 90% of LME aluminum pledged holdings for a long time. They pointed out that this holdings is the main reason for the futures premium of near-term LME aluminum contracts being higher than that of the longer-term contracts. Data provider Kpler's information shows that the “Astro Denebola” vessel, loaded with approximately 32,000 tons of aluminum, departed from Port Klang on October 24 and is expected to arrive in New Orleans on December 9.
