Mexico has announced a lawsuit against Google regarding the renaming of the "Gulf of Mexico".

Jin10 reported on May 10 that on May 9 local time, Mexican President AMLO announced that the country has officially sued Google for renaming “Gulf of Mexico” to “Gulf of America” in its Google Maps service for U.S. users. AMLO stated that the lawsuit documents have been submitted but did not disclose the specific court agency and timeline. On January 20 of this year, U.S. President Trump signed an executive order renaming “Gulf of Mexico” to “Gulf of America”. Mexican President AMLO responded and expressed opposition, stating that the name “Gulf of Mexico” has long been recognized by the United Nations.
