Over a decade ago, Davinci Jeremie from Chile tried to warn the world. In May 2013, he posted a video in which he advised every viewer to simply invest one dollar in Bitcoin. Back then, the price was about 117 dollars per BTC. Hardly anyone paid attention back then—yet Jeremie’s wealth and foresight would have been clearly noticeable if more people had followed his advice.

In his post at the time, he wrote: For the price of a Lottoschein, you could hold Bitcoin for 10 years and become a millionaire. Stop living in fear. If it goes to zero, you lose one dollar—who cares? But if I’m right, I want all of you to thank me. In ten years, you’ll come back to me and regret not having listened.

He also explained that Bitcoin is a decentralized digital currency with which people can send money over the internet without intermediaries. Back then, most people smiled. Today? One Bitcoin reached its previous peak in 2021 at about 61,000 dollars—and has since reached even higher levels.

The story shows a pattern that repeats itself. Another user reported that at the time, he could have bought almost 2,600 Bitcoin for just 10 Pfunde. Today, a similar investment strategy in other assets would look like this: With 200 dollars at the current Dogecoin price of about 0.09 dollars, you could get around 2,222 DOGE today. If Dogecoin rises to 50 dollars in the next 5 to 10 years, that would be an investment worth about 111,100 dollars.

Davinci Jeremie’s story remains a warning: early adoption of cryptocurrencies would have generated unimaginable wealth back then. His wealth and insight show that sometimes the simplest advice is the most valuable. The question that remains today is: who will regret not having listened to today’s warnings in 10 years?
