On March 2nd, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning hosted a routine press conference. A reporter asked: Since the United States and Israel launched a military strike against Iran on February 28th, the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and Jordan have experienced attacks on U.S. military targets within their borders, and relevant countries have issued statements condemning these actions. What is China’s comment on this? Mao Ning stated that the U.S. and Israel, without authorization from the Security Council, launched a military strike against Iran, which violates international law. China is deeply concerned about the spillover of the conflict affecting neighboring countries. China believes that the sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity of Gulf countries should also be fully respected. We urge all parties to stop military actions and prevent the further spread of the conflict. China appreciates the GCC Foreign Ministers’ special meeting emphasizing that dialogue and diplomacy are the only ways to overcome the current crisis and maintain regional security. The current regional situation is complex and sensitive. China supports regional countries in strengthening communication and coordination based on good neighborliness and friendship, and working together to promote peace and stability in the region.
