What measures will China take in the next stage to protect Chinese citizens in Iran? Ministry of Foreign Affairs responds
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning hosted the routine press conference on March 2. During the session, a reporter asked: “The security situation in Iran is currently severe. We have noticed that Chinese embassies and consulates in relevant countries have issued safety information and evacuation guidelines. What measures will China take next to protect Chinese citizens in Iran?” Mao Ning responded that since the security situation in Iran has become tense, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Chinese embassies and consulates in Iran have issued multiple alerts and carried out various activities, urging and assisting Chinese citizens to evacuate as soon as possible. As of 3:00 a.m. Beijing time on March 2, more than 3,000 Chinese citizens have evacuated from Iran. Chinese embassies and consulates in neighboring countries have dispatched working groups to border crossings to assist and support Chinese citizens evacuating from Iran. Given the current severe security situation in Iran, we once again solemnly remind Chinese citizens in Iran to strengthen their personal safety measures and evacuate as soon as possible. For assistance, please contact the Chinese embassy or consulate in Iran or call the 12308 consular protection hotline. (Global Times)
