New York State Takes a Shot at Knowledge Equality, Plans to Ban AI from Answering Professional Field Questions
Mars Finance reports that on March 6, New York State proposed a bill to ban AI from answering questions in professional fields such as medicine, law, dentistry, nursing, psychology, and engineering. According to related interpretations, this action is not fundamentally about protecting the public but about “industries charging $500 per hour using politicians to protect their knowledge monopoly.” Lawyers don’t want users to know that AI can draft contracts in 30 seconds, doctors don’t want users to know that AI can interpret blood reports better than residents, and engineers don’t want users to know that AI can review your design sketches overnight. New York’s proposed ban on AI answering professional questions is not for user protection but to safeguard their business interests.
