I am surprised nobody is talking about Donald Trump’s investments in Dubai as a factor in Iran’s increased aggression toward the city compared to other Gulf countries.
I always believed Dubai was the safest city in the world, and internally it probably still is. However, recent geopolitical developments have shifted that view.
Donald Trump has major real estate partnerships in Dubai, including massive projects with leading companies like DAMAC.
In my view, Iran is targeting Dubai more than other cities because of these Trump-linked investments. Damaging those properties could be a way to hit Trump personally and cause financial losses to his business interests.
Ultimately, I believe Dubai real estate is going to suffer a massive setback. The "safety" narrative that has driven the market for years has been punctured. At least until Donald Trump finishes his term in 2028-29, I don't see the market recovering. It’s over. I love this city, but facts are facts.
