6 Highly Innovative Projects In The NFT Space
As the concept of non-fungible tokens continues to evolve, dozens of new startups have emerged to push the boundaries of what’s possible with this innovative new technology. NFTs have the potential to revolutionize the way people collect, trade and monetize digital assets
NFTs are “non-fungible”, meaning that each and every one is unique and cannot be replaced. The original use case for NFTs was all about proof-of-ownership of digital art, but these days the concept is rapidly evolving as new use cases emerge. Here’s a few innovative projects utilizing NFTs that could well shape the future of digital assets
Lost Worlds
The Lost Worlds project introduces the revolutionary concept of geoNFTs, which are a new kind of NFT that’s geographically linked to a specific, physical location in the real world. With Lost Worlds, anyone can mint an NFT when they visit a physical location that’s tied to a specific digital asset, opening a world of possibilities for creators and businesses to engage with people in a more exciting, interactive way
The basic idea is that creators can develop hybrid experiences that cross the boundaries of physical and digital worlds, visiting locations such as museums, theme parks and special events, where they can search for hidden NFTs that enhance those experiences
The first ever geoNFT mint took place at the 2022 Avalanche Summit in Barcelona, when Lost Worlds dropped a series of NFTs across a 50,000 square meter area in the city. It created a Pokemon Go-like experience that saw collectors explore the city looking to mint the entire collection of NFTs. That experience was followed by “Continent”, a video NFT project with unique tokens hidden in specific locations on each continent, forcing users to travel the entire world to get the full set
Lost World’s most recent project was LOST.NYC at NFT.NYC, where a collection of NFTs was dropped at specific locations in New York City, with the first to mint them being granted access to exclusive events, token-gated merchandise and winning the chance to participate in other NFT drops at the event. At NFT.NYC, Lost Worlds also partnered with the Web3 lifestyle app STEPN to drop multiple geoNFTs at popular locations in Central Park
Own The Moment
The creator of a content and data analytics platform for NFT collections, Own The Moment provides the tools needed to build up a solid investment portfolio of NFTs. Using its platform, NFT collectors can gather data on specific digital assets, generate insights from this data, and find online discussions about the collections to aid in their investing decisions
Own The Moment also enables NFT collectors to create a strategy for investing in the emerging space, empowering users with NFT discovery, education and analysis. Users can filter through NFTs based on specific requirements they have to narrow down the list of NFTs they wish to acquire
La Collection
A french initiative that’s looking to partner with world-renowned art galleries to sell NFT versions of physical artworks created by both famous and upcoming artists. La Collection launched late in 2021 with its inaugural Katsushika Hokusai collection. Since then, it has gained steam by partnering with The British Museum and Annka Kulty’s Gallery to tokenize many of their exhibits
As La Collection explains on its website, “Art needs a new wave of collectors”, and what better way to do that than to tap into the appetite of digital collectors? La Collection’s goal is to bring art collections to a wider audience. To that end, it uses a process called “digital lithography” to create digital twins of existing, physical artworks which are then sold via online exhibitions
Autograph.io
Autograph.io is a blockchain-based platform created by legendary NFL quarterback Tom Brady and his friend, the technology entrepreneur Dillon Rosenblatt, that enables people to buy, sell and collect NFT-based celebrity autographs
The platform has partnered with a wide range of high-profile celebrities across the sports, music and entertainment industries to create NFT collections. Some of the most famous celebrities who have created NFT autographs include Brady himself, Tony Hawk, the professional skateboarder, Lionel Messi, one of the greatest footballers in history, Wayne Gretzky, a retired NHL Hall of Famer, Naomi Osaka, a tennis player and four-time Grand Slam champion, Simone Biles, the Olympic gold medalist gymnast, Billie Eilish, a Grammy award-winning singer and songwriter, and G-Eazy, a famed rap artist and music producer
One of the unique things about Autograph.io is that its NFTs grant holders access to special Autograph Signature Experiences, including special events where they can meet the celebs in person, online chats with the celebs, and limited-edition merchandise
Flyfish Club
The Flyfish Club NFT collection is a series of 1,501 NFTs that provide holders with exclusive access to a unique fine dining club experience at a physical restaurant in New York City
Created by Gary Vaynerchuk’s hospitality and restaurant group VCR Group, the Flyfish Club NFTs are aimed at seafood lovers, with only NFT holders able to access its first physical premises at 141 E. Houston St. in New York, a new office building that was developed on the site of the former Sunshine Theater
The Flyfish Club NFTs, which are selling for an average of around $13,000 on the open marketplace, provide ultra-exclusive access to the dining club itself, which includes a cocktail lounge, omakase room and outdoor dining area
Premint
Signing up for NFT mints has become a chore, both for collectors and their creators. With Premint, creators can create allowlists for participation that prevent a mass scramble for their new NFT mints and prevent them from being charged exorbitant gas fees
Premint is used by NFT creators to compile allowlists for their latest NFT project, enabling them to easily approve a specific list of email addresses, IP address, domain names or applications
By creating an allowlist, NFT creators can help their fans to access their latest creations, reducing the time they would otherwise have to spend hunting for new projects on Twitter or Discord. Creators can also define eligibility pre-mint to weed out bots and other less-than-ideal customers, by asking for proof of their wallet’s minimum ETH balance, Twitter authentication, Discord membership and other details. In this way, creators can determine a set of characteristics they’re looking for in buyers
Premint has rapidly become a favorite platform for NFT creators and collectors alike, with more than 30,000 projects using its platform to date, while more than 4 million collectors have used it to register for NFT mints
