She was elected in a City Council meeting on December 10, 2024. Negrete has been active in local politics since being appointed as a council member in 2021 and then re-elected in 2022. She is also known as a small business owner and an advocate for community-based initiatives.
Under his leadership, Santa Monica expands its exploration of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology. Recently, the city announced the establishment of a "Bitcoin Office" to support education, partnerships, and responsible crypto adoption towards the environment. This move is part of a broader effort to strengthen Santa Monica's economic recovery and position the city as a crypto innovation hub.
