Hong Kong's Financial Watchdog Prepares Guidance on Tokenized Stocks
Hong Kong's Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) is planning to issue guidance on the tokenization of authorized investment products. The SFC believes that allowing primary dealing of tokenized SFC-authorized products would be more appropriate at this stage, considering the nascent state of development of virtual asset services platforms in Hong Kong. However, the SFC also acknowledges that tokenization brings new risks and regulatory issues, particularly in secondary trading on virtual asset trading platforms (VATPs).
