I just reviewed some long-term analyses of Polygon and noticed that something quite interesting is happening with MATIC. Currently, this token is at $0.18, but the question many people are asking is whether it can reach $1 in the future, or even go much higher.
To understand this, first we need to look at what is driving Polygon's growth. This network is not a competing Layer-1 with Ethereum, but a Layer-2 solution built on the Ethereum platform. It processes millions of transactions daily with extremely low fees, often under $0.01, compared to Ethereum's main network which can cost $2-50 per transaction. MATIC plays two main roles: one is used to pay gas fees, and the other is used for staking to secure the network.
Polygon's strength lies in attracting major names. Disney, Starbucks, Meta have all deployed or explored projects on this network. That is no coincidence – it proves the technology has been validated for real-world applications. Moreover, the Polygon ecosystem is rapidly growing with over 50,000 projects, compared to about 1,000 projects on Arbitrum.
Looking at the technical roadmap, Polygon 2.0 is approaching as a pivotal milestone. It will transform Polygon into a network of interconnected Layer-2 chains, greatly enhancing scalability. When this technology is successfully implemented, the demand for MATIC will increase exponentially.
Regarding price forecasts, experts divide into different stages. In 2026, if the ecosystem continues to develop sustainably, MATIC could trade between $0.45 and $0.80. By 2027, as the network effect becomes more apparent, $0.70 to $1.20 is feasible, with $1 serving as a key psychological resistance point. From 2028 to 2030, if Web3 truly achieves widespread adoption, MATIC could support prices of $1.50 to $3.00 or higher.
Of course, there are risks to consider. Competition from other Layer-2 solutions like Arbitrum or Optimism is significant. Additionally, cryptocurrency regulations remain a major variable, along with the potential failure in technological implementation.
But from a long-term perspective, Polygon has proven its value. The maximum supply of the MATIC token is 10 billion, and all have been circulated, which can support long-term scarcity. If the ecosystem continues to grow as planned and is widely adopted, reaching $1 is not an unrealistic goal. However, as always, this is only part of the bigger picture – it’s essential to monitor technological developments, regulatory environments, and overall market sentiment for a more accurate outlook.
