The list of candidates for UN Secretary-General has been expanded by two people, and the campaign has entered a new stage.
According to a document released on March 4 by the official website of the President of the United Nations General Assembly, the list of candidates for the post of United Nations Secretary-General has been updated again, with two additional candidates joining the race for this important position. At present, four candidates are already competing. Among the newly added candidates, Burundi’s current chair of the African Union, in its capacity as the rotating chair, has nominated former President of Senegal Macky Sall to contend for the election of the next UN Secretary-General. Macky Sall has extensive experience on the African political stage. During his time in office in Senegal, he achieved notable results in driving domestic economic development and promoting social stability, among other areas. Costa Rica, meanwhile, has nominated economist and former Costa Rican Vice President Rebecca Greenspan to run in this race for the UN Secretary-General position. Rebecca Greenspan has a deep grounding in the field of economics. During her tenure in the Costa Rican government, she actively participated in the formulation and implementation of the country’s economic policies, contributing her efforts to Costa Rica’s economic and social development.
