Why should you always play defense in trading?

Many people only think about how much they can make, yet rarely consider: what if I'm wrong?

In reality, the market will never always move the way you think. Volatility, sudden events, emotion, news—any small change can turn a smooth trade into a passive position.

So-called defense isn't about being timid or lacking confidence. It's about showing basic respect for your principal.

Trading without defense is like driving without a seatbelt or not slowing down in the rain.
When things go smoothly, it seems irrelevant, but the moment an unexpected situation hits, one mistake can wipe out all your previous hard work.

Defense gives you an exit strategy:
If you're wrong, stop in time—don't hold stubbornly, don't bet out of frustration, don't average down;
If you're right, ride the trend, and profits will naturally follow.

Trading isn't about short-term aggression, but long-term consistency.
Only by controlling risk can you go the distance;
Only by mastering defense do you truly deserve profits.

May we all stay clear-headed, disciplined, and principled—
Protect your capital first, then talk about returns.
