Vitalik Buterin has revealed a scaling plan for the next upgrade of the Ethereum network, including multiple technical improvements. According to NS3.AI, the roadmap presented by Buterin incorporates strategic measures aimed at fundamentally enhancing the network’s efficiency. These upgrades are expected to be a critical turning point that directly improves user experience and expands Ethereum’s processing capacity.

Upcoming Technical Enhancements

Buterin’s plan includes several short-term upgrades scheduled for implementation in the next Gromstone fork. The introduction of block-level access list functionality will make transaction processing more efficient and reduce gas consumption. At the same time, a new mechanism called ePBS (Execute Payload Builder-Proposer Separation) will be adopted, separating the roles of proposers and executors to achieve both network security and efficiency.

Furthermore, the introduction of multi-dimensional gas is a key innovation. This new gas calculation model allows for more flexible pricing for different types of transactions, significantly improving resource utilization on the network. All these technical improvements aim to greatly increase Ethereum’s execution efficiency and better manage the growth of the blockchain’s state.

Long-Term Vision: Pursuing Network Scalability

From a long-term perspective, Buterin’s scaling plan aims for a substantial increase in block throughput. The implementation of proto-danksharding will enable the Ethereum network to dramatically expand its data processing capacity. This approach will allow the network to handle more transactions simultaneously, leading to improved user experience and lower transaction fees.

This roadmap, as outlined by Buterin, reflects Ethereum’s commitment not only to solving scaling issues but also to driving the overall evolution of blockchain technology. From short-term technical upgrades to long-term network expansion, this phased and strategic plan is expected to meet community expectations and deliver tangible benefits to users.
