CNBC Digital Chief Jay Yarow Tapped to Lead CoinDesk Media Expansion at Bullish

In a significant leadership reshuffle, Jay Yarow—a seasoned media executive with nine years of experience driving digital transformation at CNBC—has been appointed President of CoinDesk Insights. The role places him at the helm of the media and events division within Bullish, the institutionally-focused digital asset platform that acquired CoinDesk from Digital Currency Group (DCG) in late 2023.

The appointment signals Bullish’s broader commitment to solidifying CoinDesk’s position as the dominant authority in crypto news and information services, while simultaneously expanding its reach across both institutional and retail-facing markets.

Yarow’s Track Record in Digital Media Strategy

At CNBC, Yarow served as senior vice president and executive editor, where he orchestrated the development of the network’s digital infrastructure. His contributions included launching direct-to-consumer offerings such as CNBC Pro and the CNBC Investing Club, as well as spearheading the creation of CNBC Select, an affiliate content venture. Prior to his tenure at CNBC, Yarow held the position of executive editor at Business Insider, where he shaped editorial strategy and oversaw content teams.

This combination of editorial leadership and growth-oriented digital transformation makes Yarow a natural fit for scaling CoinDesk’s media operations at a pivotal moment for the crypto industry.

Bullish’s Multi-Pronged Information Services Strategy

Tom Farley, CEO of Bullish, framed the hire as part of a larger strategic vision. “Jay is a key addition to our leadership team as we continue to grow the CoinDesk business across its Media & Events, and Data & Indices verticals,” Farley stated. “His expertise in digital growth and transformation along with a pedigree in trusted editorial will allow us to further cement the CoinDesk brand as the leader in digital asset news and events.”

The move reflects Bullish’s effort to build out a comprehensive information ecosystem for institutional investors and retail participants alike—moving beyond traditional journalism into data benchmarking and event programming.

Transition and Organizational Changes

Yarow assumes the role previously held by Sara Stratoberdha, who led CoinDesk through its transition following the Bullish acquisition. Stratoberdha is transitioning to a new executive position within Bullish’s broader organization, reflecting the company’s strategy of leveraging its leadership bench across divisions.

Reporting directly to Farley, Yarow is tasked with expanding CoinDesk’s footprint and reinforcing its standing as the go-to source for crypto industry information. “CoinDesk is the trusted name in digital asset information services,” Yarow remarked upon his appointment. “Following the Bullish acquisition, CoinDesk has fast become the global leader of crypto news measured by views, and I look forward to building on the strong foundations to deliver leading events and media services across the globe.”

Complementary Moves in Data and Indices

Yarow’s appointment arrives alongside broader organizational momentum at Bullish. Earlier in the year, David LaValle—formerly the global head of ETFs at Grayscale—was named president of CoinDesk Indices and Data, underscoring Bullish’s push to establish reliable pricing benchmarks and information products that institutional investors increasingly demand as they enter the digital asset space.

Together, these moves position CoinDesk and Bullish to compete for both mindshare and market infrastructure dominance within the cryptocurrency ecosystem.
