Here's what's coming: by 2030, moving money across borders without stablecoins will look as dated as dial-up internet.
People talk about a $2T stablecoin market cap like it's a ceiling. Wrong. That's actually the floor. Once real-world adoption kicks in, once institutions stop treating this like speculation and start using it for settlement—everything changes. The number gets bigger. Much bigger.

Oh my god, is $2T really just the floor? I thought that was already the ceiling... It's a bit mind-blowing.

According to research, there's an interesting hypothesis that needs to be unpacked—Is $2T really the "floor"? From a technical perspective, the settlement efficiency of stablecoins indeed surpasses traditional cross-border payments, but the adoption speed by institutions is often seriously overestimated. Historical data shows that the adoption cycle is usually 2-3 times longer than expected. It’s worth noting that the lag in regulatory frameworks is the real ceiling.
I don't quite agree with this black-and-white argument; institutional entry has never been a switch that flips on or off. It's more of a gradual infiltration. Overall, stablecoins are indeed the right direction, but claims like "by 2030, they will be standard" lack sufficient game theory backing.
Citing a Morgan Stanley research report, reducing cross-border payment costs needs to reach a certain critical mass to trigger institutional migration. Currently, this has not yet been achieved.
Honestly, predictions like "what will happen after X years" often overestimate the speed of technology adoption and underestimate path dependence… Let’s wait until we see the actual settlement flow data.

Let me see, using $2T as the baseline... it's indeed an interesting judgment. However, one thing needs to be clarified: there are still many engineering issues between institutional adoption and the conversion to real settlement scenarios.

Wow, 2T is really just the beginning? Once institutions get involved, it’s a whole different game.

Woke up, only on the day institutions really start to act did I realize what exponential growth truly means.

Is 2030 still far away? Talking about stablecoins now is like promoting fiber optics back in the day😂
