Market Performance Last Week (12/08–12/14)
Last week, the crypto market experienced a short-term sentiment recovery after the Federal Reserve's rate cut was implemented, but the overall price structure did not show a substantial strengthening. Since the rate cut path had been priced in by the market in advance, the policy signals released after the meeting remained cautious. Risk assets rebounded briefly but then returned to a volatile pattern.
BTC tested the $90,000–$91,000 resistance zone multiple times but failed to establish a firm foothold due to insufficient capital support and high leverage density. Prices repeatedly fell back to the mid-range, maintaining a broad trading range of $88,000–$92,000.
Liquidity decreased over the weekend, amplifying short-term volatility. During the downward move, BTC triggered deleveraging, then rebounded but did not form a trend continuation. The market still exhibits clear event-driven characteristics. ETH struggled to stay near $3,000 but largely depends on BTC's movement, lacking independent momentum.
USDT continued inflows into exchanges, reaching a phased high, but mainly reflected tactical funds deployment before events rather than long-term trend investments, indicating the current market structure remains dominated by short-term trading.
This week, market focus will shift to the Bank of Japan's interest rate decision on 12/19. Any remarks from BOJ Governor Ueda Kazuo prior to the decision could be interpreted by the market as signals of whether the rate hike cycle will begin, potentially affecting global liquidity and risk assets.
Overall, short-term volatility remains high with unclear direction; the medium-term structure has not been broken due to ETF accumulation and long-term holders locking positions. The market direction still awaits clearer signals from central bank policies.
