Today’s review: the Virgin Australia Lounge in Melbourne

- also known as the place I retreat to after a big week of punting and needing a moment to feel grounded again.

Coffee 10/10
I come here for the coffee alone. Barista made, strong, smooth, and consistent. If the lounge shut everything else down and just ran the cafe, I’d still show up early.

Seating and layout 7/10
Plenty of seating and generally comfortable, but I managed to pick the one table in the entire lounge that was aggressively wobbly. So if you’re emotionally fragile or holding a full cup maybe test your table before committing.

Food 7/10
Solid but not life changing. Hot options rotate and nothing offends, but I generally just stick to the cucumber water.

Design and vibe 8/10
Clean , modern, relaxed. Less marble and champagne but it still hits the spot. Comfortable without trying too hard which I respect.

Staff 9/10
Perfect balance of Aussie energy. Friendly and helpful in that “no worries, mate” way that instantly lowers your blood pressure.

Overall experience 8/10
Not flashy but dependable. Perfect for decompressing after rinsing the bookies at the dogs and recalibrating your nervous system.

That’s it for this review.
