Stablecoin payments are getting a serious upgrade. Using cross-chain infrastructure from LayerZero protocol, transactions can now move seamlessly across multiple networks. This kind of interoperability makes settling in stables way more practical for real-world use cases.

Cross-chain stablecoins have been upgraded again. Does this mean retail investors will get fleeced even more easily this time? LayerZero has built a solid infrastructure, but in my opinion, it’s still the whales who actually benefit, while retail investors are always the last to know.

LayerZero’s cross-chain solution sounds promising, but the key is whether the permission control of the messaging layer is done properly. Historically, almost all cross-chain vulnerabilities have happened here—just think of that major protocol’s reentrancy exploit, which was caused by inadequate permission checks that were directly bypassed. Strong stablecoin liquidity is great, but only if the underlying architecture doesn’t end up with new vulnerabilities being discovered.
