Yesterday I discussed the issue of parenting with a friend.

When it comes to educating children, my personal view is to "let them go and let them fly."

There’s no need to intervene too much.

Because of the age gap, different experiences, and different perspectives on things, we’re not the same.

Each generation has its own way of thinking and doing things.

The same path to success may not apply 20 years later.

But my friend has a different viewpoint: he says you should listen to your parents, as their knowledge and life path can help you avoid many detours.

We debated for a long time yesterday. I still think my viewpoint holds up, so I’m organizing it here for everyone to judge.

1️⃣ If your parents can arrange everything for you perfectly—your job, your life, even all your future finances, so you’ll never have to worry about food or clothing for the rest of your life—then it’s fine to listen to your parents.

Or if your parents are high-ranking officials or have achieved some major accomplishments, that’s fine too.

But the vast majority of parents are ordinary people.

2️⃣ Personally, I feel that many people's parents may not even be as knowledgeable as a current middle school student, because their thinking is already deeply ingrained.

3️⃣ They didn’t achieve enough success during the wave of reform and opening up.

So how can they, at the age of 50 or 60, make the right decisions for their children?

Take me, for example: when I first got into Web3, relatives and friends all said it was a "scam," pointless, and that it would be better to just get a stable job.

This kind of talk was never-ending.

Only after I made a bit of money in the industry did they start to look at me differently.

If I had listened to them, I’d probably be working some entry-level job at a company or government office, repeating a predictable life for the rest of my days.

4️⃣ Everyone is responsible for their own life; parents cannot be responsible for their child’s life forever.

Those who don’t take responsibility for the outcome shouldn’t participate in major decisions.

Whether it’s your future life or other major events.

Parents pushing for marriage is their own idea, but after marriage, it’s you who has to deal with daily life and companionship.

You are the one who should be most responsible for yourself.

5️⃣ Many times, when you realize you don’t have to listen to your parents, you’ll find that life goes much more smoothly.

Living a life where you call the shots is just incredibly satisfying.
