Recently, I've been considering switching devices for airdrop farming, and I wanted to ask everyone about the real-world performance of the M2 Ultra.
Friends in the crypto space told me this machine can handle 70-80 tasks running online simultaneously without dropping frames, and the operation is especially smooth and responsive. My current setup is a 9950X with 96GB RAM, 4TB SSD, and a 5060 GPU—it cost me quite a bit back then. Looking at the current secondhand market, prices are holding up well, so if I sell, I could not only break even but even make a small profit.
I'm thinking about selling now and paying a bit more to go straight for the M2 Ultra. The main attraction is its multitasking ability, since projects now are all about batch operations. But I’m not very familiar with the Apple ecosystem, and I’m worried about compatibility and whether the actual performance matches expectations.
Does anyone here have real experience using the M2 Ultra for running tasks? Can you share your honest experience, especially regarding stability and cooling performance? Have you run into any pitfalls?

Hmm... I think this matter needs to be considered carefully. The price difference between the 9950X and the M2 can make up quite a bit.

I heard the M2 Ultra is really powerful, but its ecosystem compatibility is really a disadvantage.

There are too many pitfalls in Apple's ecosystem, I advise you not to switch. The 9950X setup is actually already good enough, so why bother?

Don't be fooled by this trap. Running on-chain tasks in the Mac ecosystem is really troublesome, with a bunch of compatibility issues.

Well... I've heard that the M2 Ultra has an extremely strong cooling capability, but there are indeed many compatibility issues within the Apple ecosystem.

To be honest, the compatibility issues within the Apple ecosystem are really a pitfall—I have friends who have run into them.

Sounds like I'm about to get hooked again, but the M2 Ultra's cooling is really impressive.

To be honest, Apple's ecosystem for Airdrop does have some barriers, and I've also encountered pitfalls in terms of compatibility.
