Woman who promised 20% monthly profits with cryptocurrencies is arrested

The Civil Police of Rio Grande do Norte arrested last Friday ( a 42-year-old woman in Greater Natal accused of committing a cryptocurrency scam.

The investigation indicated that she met the victims in a work environment and began to offer supposed investments in cryptocurrencies with returns of 10% to 20%.

Following a common model in scams, especially pyramids, the woman initially paid part of the amounts to the victims, thus gaining their trust and helping to attract more people to the scheme. However, after a few months, the payments were interrupted.

According to the Civil Police, the woman even threatened the people who demanded payment. The suspicion is that the loss exceeds R$ 610 thousand.

The team from the Specialized Police Station for Counterfeiting and Fraud )DEFD( conducted investigations until they located the woman, who had been on the run since January. After being arrested, she was taken to the police station for legal procedures and then transferred to the prison system, where she will remain at the disposal of the Justice.
