Don't remind me again today

Nikkei recently revealed an explosive piece of news – Sony Bank plans to launch its own stablecoin product in the US market around the fiscal year 2026, directly pegged to the US dollar.

The interesting thing about this matter is that Sony is not trying to create a universal stablecoin to compete directly with USDT or USDC, but rather is targeting its own ecosystem. Specifically, it aims to embed this stablecoin into game recharges, anime copyright settlements, and their own established digital asset system.

In other words, in the future, when you spend money on PlayStation games or pay for anime on the Sony platform, you might be able to complete transactions directly using this USD stablecoin. This basically connects the "content consumption + on-chain payment" pathway.

Traditional giants are truly starting to use Web3 tools as infrastructure, no longer just dipping their toes in or炒概念. Once these established Japanese companies get serious about it, the entire industry's gameplay may need to be redefined again. With Sony making this move, other game manufacturers and content platforms will likely have to think about their own stablecoin strategies as well.

Sony's move is indeed brilliant, integrating game ecology + stablecoin, directly blocking the competitors' path. PlayStation players have no choice but to use it. Traditional giants are waking up, the encryption circle is about to change. But I'm afraid it might end up being a money-making tool, with its authenticity in question. This is how Web3 should be used, not the Cryptocurrency Trading approach. Other gaming companies watching Sony make money are probably feeling anxious as well. Tying US dollar stablecoins to game content shows there is potential for imagination. The key still lies in how the ecosystem will be opened up later; it's too early to say anything now. If Sony's operation really lands, the game payment landscape will be reshuffled. Long-established companies are seriously engaging with Blockchain, how will small projects cope?

Sony's recent move is quite ruthless, directly turning stablecoins into ecological adhesives. Instead of engaging in a price war with USDT, they're fighting an ecological war. Smart.

Sony's recent move is truly brilliant, using stablecoins directly as internal settlement tools is much smarter than creating a universal currency.
