Don't remind me again today

Is Tesla FSD in trouble again? Billionaire throws money at the Super Bowl for Musk, only to be slapped back by regulators.

The story goes like this: The organization “The Dawn Project” led by tech tycoon Dan O'Dowd aired two ads during Super Bowl LVIII, criticizing the safety of TSL FSD (Full Self-Driving) and directly urging consumers to “boycott TSL, protect your children.”

The critical turning point has arrived—The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) found that this guy illegally used the NTSB's official seal in the advertisement, and the official directly sent a lawyer's letter demanding that he stop, even using the term “spurious endorse.” It's equivalent to using someone else's “brand name” for advertising without their consent.

Musk's reaction was even more extreme, directly saying “He has lost his marbles.” He also added that it was no surprise that O'Dowd violated federal law.

Interesting Point:

  • O'Dowd claims to ensure software safety but used “illegal means” for promotion.
  • The NTSB strongly distances itself, stating that it has never authorized or participated.
  • This is a rare “regulatory countermeasure” case in Super Bowl history.

Summary: Spending a lot of money to blacken competitors only to step on legal landmines, with regulatory authorities saying “not my agreement” puts the entire advertising campaign into question. If you want to blacken others, you first need to catch up on legal lessons.
