Has this ever happened to you: you see that an airdrop is launching “at 10:00 AM UTC” and you arrive an hour late… only to find out that in your country it was 4:00 AM. Or the other way around: you woke up at 3:00 AM for nothing.
The problem is not the alarm, it's that you don't understand how UTC works.
What the hell is UTC?
UTC = Coordinated Universal Time. It is the global reference clock that does NOT change with daylight saving time or time zones. Everyone uses it as a basis to synchronize crypto events, listings on exchanges, and token presales.
Your time difference (is the only thing that matters)
Latin America:
Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Panama → UTC -5
Mexico → UTC -6
Venezuela → UTC -4
Argentina, Chile → UTC -3
Europe:
Spain → UTC +2 (summer) / UTC +1 (winter)
How to calculate in 10 seconds
Option 1 (the easy):
Google: “10:00 AM UTC en Colombia” → ready.
Option 2 (mental):
If you are in UTC-5, subtract 5 hours.
10:00 AM UTC → 5:00 AM in your country
8:00 PM UTC → 3:00 PM in your country
Option 3 ( Telegram bot ):
Use @TimeZoneBot or a world clock app.
Why crypto bros lose money here
They arrive late to the launch → the price is already exploding in the presale
They wake up super early for nothing → the event was at another time
They sell out of panic when it has just started → because they believe it is already over
The lesson
When you see a UTC event, always convert it to your time zone. Prepare 30 minutes in advance. A single scheduling error can cost you a profit that won't happen again. In crypto, speed is everything.
Pro tip: Save the main time differences on your phone (UTC-5, UTC-3, etc.). It saves you mental conversions.
