Xiaomi – often regarded as a budget smartphone brand – is actually the third-largest smartphone manufacturer in the world, behind Apple and Samsung, with around 170 million devices shipped in 2025. The company has expanded into many fields, from home appliances to electric vehicles, even setting a record with the SU7 Ultra model at Nürburgring.
On March 18, Xiaomi launched the AI model set MiMo-V2, with the MiMo-V2-Pro quickly drawing attention after previously appearing anonymously under the name “Hunter Alpha” and topping the OpenRouter rankings. The model boasts over 1 trillion parameters, achieving competitive performance with top systems like Claude.
Notably, the operational costs of MiMo are significantly lower than its competitors, providing a substantial advantage for large-scale AI developers. In testing, the model demonstrated exceptional creative writing capabilities, producing long, in-depth, and highly authentic content, positioning Xiaomi as a formidable contender in the global AI race.
