Solana Foundation President Lily Liu: Blockchain gaming is dead and will not return

Gate News reports that on March 20, Solana Foundation President Lily Liu posted on X stating “Games on the blockchain will not return,” and declared that blockchain gaming is dead. Liu’s statement was prompted by a Polymarket post earlier this week, which indicated that Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta is abandoning its metaverse vision after investing $80 billion. Although Meta’s vision does not explicitly include blockchain or cryptocurrencies, its strategy shares similarities with various blockchain-based Web3 gaming concepts. The report notes that Mythical Games is still developing mobile games for the FIFA and Pudgy Penguins brands, and Gunzilla Games’ shooter game Off the Grid has made on-chain interactions optional.
