GUSD is an innovative stablecoin that distinguishes itself from conventional stablecoins by incorporating bond-like features, which return principal and interest at maturity. GUSD is backed by real-world assets (RWA), including U.S. Treasury securities.

GUSD’s Unique Positioning Beyond Stablecoins

While most stablecoins emphasize price stability and payment convenience, GUSD takes a distinct approach, bringing the features of principal-and-interest-bearing notes on-chain. Backed by real-world assets (RWAs) such as U.S. Treasuries, GUSD enables holders to redeem both principal and accumulated returns, providing an on-chain experience similar to traditional fixed-income products.

How Can You Get GUSD?

Gate provides two direct options to suit user preferences:

  • Spot market swap: Instantly exchange USDT for GUSD in the spot market for immediate access;
  • On-chain 1:1 minting: Mint GUSD at a 1:1 ratio using USDT or USDC, facilitating portfolio integration and simplifying wealth management allocation.

Once acquired through swapping or minting, GUSD is available for trading, margin usage, or investment in wealth management products.

Lump-Sum Returns Instead of Daily Interest

GUSD generates returns from its RWA reserves (such as U.S. Treasuries), but its distribution model differs from the typical daily interest payout. Instead, Gate calculates and pays out earnings in full at redemption or maturity. For example, if you mint GUSD with 100 USDT and the underlying assets earn a 20% return, you may redeem approximately 120 USDC—subject to taxes or fees per official guidelines. Gate also offers flexible savings options, allowing short-term capital to participate in continuous returns at any time.

Staking and Ecosystem Incentives

To drive user participation, Gate has integrated staking and ecosystem rewards into GUSD:

  • Stake to receive base interest;
  • Earn additional token rewards in special promotions. Annualized yields, when available, will be announced officially.
  • GUSD plans to expand interoperability with lending, Launchpool, CandyDrop, and other ecosystem utilities—creating a synergistic environment for yield generation and community incentives.

This approach empowers users to benefit simultaneously from returns comparable to fixed-income products and platform incentives.

How GUSD Differs from Traditional Stablecoins and RWA Products

GUSD stands out through its design and integrated application ecosystem:

  • Accrue time-based value: Holding GUSD generates actual returns instead of simply maintaining face value;
  • Support dual-currency minting: Both USDT and USDC are accepted, maximizing user flexibility;
  • Offer unified use cases: Trading, margin, yield products, and staking are interlinked within a single ecosystem;
  • Transparency commitment: Gate plans to gradually disclose proof of reserves and custody details to achieve full asset backing and external validation.

GUSD thus serves as a USD-based instrument with both liquidity and yield potential, and is designed for active portfolio allocation, rather than merely functioning as a payment vehicle.

Liquidity and Redemption Process

Users can redeem GUSD for USDC and then swap it to USDT or other assets as needed, thanks to GUSD’s high liquidity. This flexible process avoids permanent lockups, enabling swift asset reallocation across markets.

Conclusion

GUSD combines the financial mechanics of traditional notes—return of principal plus interest at maturity—with the programmable and high-liquidity features of blockchain. From minting and holding, to staking, redemption, and ecosystem integration, it offers a robust on-chain solution for managing dollars in modern investment portfolios. With ongoing improvements to transparency, compliance, and custody validation, GUSD is well-positioned to set a benchmark for RWA deployment in Web3.

AI-Native Settlement Layers: How United Stables Is Building the Next Financial Rail

Stablecoins were originally designed as dollar substitutes within exchanges, primarily used for asset pricing and trade settlement. As on-chain financial ecosystems have matured, their role has expanded beyond simple payments to include collateral assets, cross-chain liquidity mediums, and unified settlement units. In particular, as AI systems and automated agents begin to participate directly in economic activity, demand has risen sharply for programmable value units capable of instant settlement. This shift is pushing stablecoins toward the role of foundational financial infrastructure.

DePIN Identity Network and Real World Applications: How Humanity Protocol Brings on-chain Identity Into the Physical World

Most Web3 identity systems remain confined to on-chain environments and struggle to achieve meaningful adoption in real world settings. Through a DePIN architecture and physical verification hardware, Humanity Protocol aims to bring decentralized identity into access control systems, hospitality, public services, and offline events, allowing on-chain identity to function not just as a digital credential, but as foundational infrastructure for real world access.

Aster vs Hyperliquid: Which Perp DEX Will Prevail?

Aster and Hyperliquid are the two representative protocols of the "purpose-built L1 path" within the current decentralized perpetual exchange (Perp DEX) sector. As a pioneer in the field, Hyperliquid has built a deep liquidity moat through its highly mature order book architecture and strong community consensus. Conversely, Aster, as a rising challenger, seeks to leapfrog the competition in high-performance trading through more aggressive multi-chain aggregation logic, private transaction modules, and an underlying execution environment optimized for 2026 market demands.

Aerodrome Tokenomics: How ve(3,3) Powers Base's Most Profitable DEX

AERO is the native token of Aerodrome Finance, a core decentralized exchange and liquidity protocol in the Base ecosystem. It is primarily used for liquidity incentives and ecosystem operations. veAERO is a governance NFT that users receive by locking AERO, representing both voting power and the right to share protocol revenue. Through a dual track structure of AERO as a utility token and veAERO as a governance credential, Aerodrome separates liquidity usage value from long term governance power, allowing participants to act as liquidity providers, governance decision makers, and revenue sharers within the same system.
