So I saw quite a few people struggling with their Pi KYC that has been pending for months, and honestly, it's annoying. So I looked into how it works, and it's not that complicated actually.
To start, you just need to be at least 18 years old and have mined Pi for at least 30 days. Then you'll need a valid ID, like a passport or driver's license. The important thing is to have a good photo of yourself and a clear photo of your ID.
The Pi KYC process itself takes about 5 to 10 minutes max. You open Pi Browser, go to the Mainnet section, fill out your checklist, and access the KYC area. Then you select your country, choose your ID type, take the photos, and fill out the form with your info. Everything just needs to match your identity document properly.
What blocks many people is that afterward, you have to do a live authenticity verification, like a live selfie. You really need to be in a well-lit place and have a clear face. That's where a lot of people mess up.
After submitting your Pi KYC, it can take anywhere from a few minutes to several months depending on the validators in your country. Each request is verified by at least two people who already have validated KYC. It costs 1 Pi in fees, which is paid to the validators.
If you check your status in your profile and see a loading animation, it’s still in progress. A green checkmark means it’s approved. Some people wait a really long time, so don’t panic too quickly. How long did you have to wait before it was approved?
