The Japanese National Diet's House of Councillors approves the FY2026 budget plan

On the 7th local time, Japan’s House of Councillors held a vote on the 2026 fiscal year (April 2026 to March 2027) budget proposal during a plenary session. The budget proposal was approved by a majority vote. Japan’s 2026 fiscal year budget was passed by the House of Representatives on March 13 and was subsequently submitted to the House of Councillors for review. According to Japanese sources, the total scale of Japan’s 2026 budget exceeds 122 trillion yen, setting a record high. Among them, the defense budget for the first time surpassed 9 trillion yen, also reaching a historic high. (CCTV News)
