Chad's military enters "highest alert" to respond to attacks from the Sudanese direction

Chad’s Presidential Palace issued a statement on the evening of the 18th, saying that drones from Sudan attacked Chad’s territory on the evening of the 18th, resulting in casualties among many people. Chad’s president and the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Mahamat Déby, urgently ordered the troops to enter a “maximum alert status” and to retaliate against any attacks coming from the direction of Sudan. The statement said the Chad president also ordered a complete shutdown of the 1,300-kilometer border between Chad and Sudan. He instructed the prime minister to dispatch a government delegation to the scene to assess casualties and property damage. According to reports by Chad’s media, drones from Sudan attacked the border town of Tiné on the evening of the 18th, killing at least 16 civilian deaths in Chad.
