AEP Ohio, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy and SB Energy, announced a $4.2 billion investment to build new 765-kV transmission infrastructure in Appalachian Ohio. This infrastructure will support a planned 10-gigawatt data center campus at the former Piketon gaseous diffusion plant. SB Energy committed to fund the $4.2 billion to prevent residential rate hikes, with power expected to flow by 2029, pending regulatory approvals.
