People’s Financial News, March 19 — On March 18, Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao met with South Korean Minister of Trade, Industry, and Energy Kim Joo-hyun in Beijing. The two sides exchanged in-depth views on deepening China-South Korea economic and trade cooperation. Wang Wentao stated that this year marks the beginning of China’s 14th Five-Year Plan. China will continue to promote high-quality development and unwaveringly expand high-level opening-up, which will bring more opportunities for China-Korea cooperation. China is willing to work with South Korea to earnestly implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, accelerate the second-phase negotiations of the China-Korea Free Trade Agreement, maintain stability in industrial and supply chains, deepen cooperation in trade and investment, strengthen regional and multilateral cooperation frameworks such as the World Trade Organization and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, and promote the healthy and stable development of China-Korea economic and trade relations. Kim Joo-hyun said that South Korea is willing to work with China to implement the important consensus of the two heads of state, accelerate the second-phase negotiations of the China-Korea Free Trade Agreement, and maintain close communication on issues such as ensuring the stability and smooth operation of industrial and supply chains through bilateral mechanisms like the China-Korea industrial chain and supply chain cooperation hotline and the China-Korea export control dialogue.
