China Nuclear Industry South China Construction Engineering Group Company Relocates to Daya Bay, 37-Year-Old State-Owned Enterprise Steps into New Development Stage

On the morning of March 14, Guangdong Geological Bureau’s affiliated Nuclear Industry South China Construction Engineering Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “South China Group”) held a relocation ceremony at the Daya Bay Diqian Building, marking a new chapter in the development of this well-established state-owned enterprise with a 37-year history. Leaders and guests from local government departments, Shaoguan Geological Survey Center of Guangdong Geological Bureau, Guangdong Mineral Resources Exploration Institute, and others attended the event, witnessing this milestone together with all company employees.

Founded in 1989 as a Shaoguan state-owned enterprise that created the “Three National Firsts” in China’s nuclear industry, South China Group has maintained its original mission for 37 years. From its inception to growth, from perseverance to expansion, it has developed comprehensive qualifications in highway engineering general contracting level 1, municipal public works general contracting level 1, water conservancy and hydropower engineering level 2, as well as specialized qualifications in foundation and foundation, subgrade, pavement, bridges, and tunnels. Over the past 37 years, the company has traveled across all provinces, cities, and autonomous regions in China, completing 880 kilometers of expressways and municipal roads, constructing more than 60 large bridges and major bridges, building 6.25 million square meters of high-grade pavements, and tackling nearly 100 large and long tunnels—such as the Qiushan Tunnel on the Shaanxi Pingzhen Expressway (7,670 meters), the Zao Xiao Expressway Tunnel (6,170 meters), the Fenghuang Mountain Tunnel on the Zengzong Expressway in Guangdong (over 4,000 meters), and the Yangxi Water and Hydropower Tunnel with over 10,000 meters of water conveyance—these projects demonstrate the company’s technical strength. The company has received two first-class National Science and Technology Progress Awards, more than ten provincial and ministerial-level quality engineering awards, and was recognized as a “Contract-abiding and Credit-worthy Enterprise” in Guangdong Province, earning a reputation through tangible achievements, building a strong team, and forging a brand.

“This relocation is not only a physical move but also a crucial step in the company’s strategic upgrade and leap forward,” said Zhou Panfeng, General Manager of South China Group, in his speech. The advantageous location, excellent business environment, and broad development space of Daya Bay provide strong support for the company to optimize its industrial layout, improve operational efficiency, and seize new opportunities in the Greater Bay Area market. Standing at this new starting point, the company will adopt a more open attitude, more pragmatic actions, and more innovative ideas, rooted in Daya Bay and serving the Greater Bay Area, transforming the craftsmanship spirit and integrity foundation accumulated over 37 years into driving forces for development. The goal is to become a “new engine” and “new benchmark” for high-quality development in Daya Bay.

At the scene, the unveiling ceremony of South China Group’s new office was held. As the red ribbon was pulled aside, the plaque of “Nuclear Industry South China Construction Engineering Group Co., Ltd.” was officially revealed, symbolizing the company’s formal establishment in Daya Bay and opening a new chapter of high-quality development.

With steadfast original intentions and perseverance, Zhou Panfeng stated that in this new environment and starting point, the company must shoulder new responsibilities and take new actions. It will focus closely on the construction needs of Daya Bay and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, fully leverage the advantages accumulated over 37 years, continue to deepen its expertise in highways, municipal works, and water conservancy, and deliver better projects with a more solid work style. The company aims to grow together with Daya Bay and prosper with the Greater Bay Area, contributing the strength of state-owned enterprises to local economic development.

“Though the road may be long, walking will bring us there; though the task may be difficult, doing it will lead to success.” All employees of South China Construction expressed their commitment to take this relocation as a new starting point, to forge ahead together, and to work tirelessly on this passionate land of Daya Bay. They will strive to draw a new blueprint, continue to write a more brilliant future for Nuclear Industry South China Construction Engineering Group, and contribute to the high-quality development of the geological industry.
