Beijing, March 19 — According to reports from multiple Middle Eastern countries, their energy facilities were attacked by Iranian missiles and drones on the 19th. On the same day, a spokesperson from Iran’s Hatham Anbia Central Headquarters of the armed forces stated that Iran has no intention of expanding the war to oil facilities and does not wish to harm neighboring countries’ economies.

Qatar’s Ministry of Interior and QatarEnergy said that the Ras Laffan Industrial City was set on fire due to an Iranian missile attack, causing extensive damage. No casualties have been reported. Shell Group issued a statement saying that the attack caused a fire at its facility there. The situation is now under control, and damage assessment is ongoing. According to Al Jazeera, Ras Laffan Industrial City is home to the world’s largest liquefied natural gas production facility.

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on social media that the kingdom convened a multilateral meeting, condemning these attacks as violations of sovereignty and international law, and called on Iran to cease its attacks immediately.

The Islamic Republic News Agency of Iran reported that a spokesperson from Iran’s Hatham Anbia Central Headquarters of the armed forces stated that attacking Iran’s energy infrastructure is a “serious mistake.” He emphasized that if Iran’s energy infrastructure is attacked again, Iran’s response will be more severe than before.

Al Jazeera cited industry analysts saying that due to Israel and the United States’ threats of war against Iran and the potential impact on global natural gas supplies, European natural gas prices could surge this winter. Even if tensions ease quickly, supply disruptions could persist for a long time.
