[Caixin] Guangzhou plans to phase out existing electric bicycle charging stations that operate at over 48 volts, lack 3C certification, and pose safety hazards by May 31. Luo Zhenbo, head of the Pipeline Supervision Department at the Guangzhou Urban Construction Affairs Center, revealed this information at a recent industry policy exchange meeting.

Luo Zhenbo stated that regulatory authorities will conduct a comprehensive survey through self-reporting by companies and coordinated efforts with associations. They will strictly enforce national standards, strengthen product quality supervision, and impose legal penalties on non-compliant products.

Electric bicycle charging station operators mainly serve delivery and food delivery riders. Riders have high usage intensity, and frequent battery charging can reduce delivery efficiency. Charging station services have thus emerged. Typically, riders pay about 300 yuan per month for a subscription-based charging service. When their battery runs low during delivery, they can replace it with a fully charged battery nearby, saving time on charging.
