The UK High Court has allowed a theft lawsuit involving 2,323 bitcoins (approximately $172 million) to proceed. Plaintiff Ping Fai Yuen alleges that his estranged wife Fun Yung Li spied on his hardware wallet recovery phrase through a home CCTV camera and made unauthorized transfers of bitcoin stored in a Trezor cold wallet in August 2023. The judge determined that the plaintiff's "conversion" claim typically applies only to tangible property under English law, but ruled that the case can continue based on other legal grounds. The relevant bitcoins are currently scattered across 71 on-chain addresses and have not moved since December 2023. (CoinDesk)
