China’s industrial added value, retail, and fixed asset investment data for the first two months of the year all surpassed expectations. From January to February, industrial production increased by 6.3% year-on-year, higher than the market forecast of 5.3%. The total retail sales of consumer goods rose by 2.8%, also better than the expected 2.5%. Fixed asset investment increased by 1.8%, outperforming the estimated decline of 5.1%.
