Three major fast food chains, Pizza Hut, Papa Johns, and Wendy’s, are set to close a combined total of 908 locations due to industry pressures such as rising costs and changing consumer preferences. Pizza Hut plans to close 250 restaurants, Papa Johns anticipates shuttering 300, and Wendy’s expects to close up to 358 in the first half of 2026, with some closures already underway. Other chains like Denny’s, Red Lobster, TGI Friday’s, Applebee’s, and Noodles & Company are also planning significant closures.
