Storage chip sector surges in afternoon trading! Jintaiyan, Yachuang Electronics and others hit 20CM daily limit, semiconductor industry may face another round of price increases
How can the rise in wafer foundry prices accelerate domestic substitution?
On March 16, many concept stocks in the A-share storage chip sector surged. As of the latest report, Jinyang Solar, Yachuang Electronics, Langke Technology rose 20%, Bawei Storage increased over 13%, Huahong Company rose over 12%, and Guokewei, Chaoying Electronics, Demingli and others followed suit.
In terms of news, the GTC 2026 conference will be held from March 16 to 19 in San Jose, California. OpenAI, Google DeepMind, Meta, Microsoft, and Tesla will participate in key stages or major sessions. GF Securities believes this event could be a catalyst not only for NVIDIA but also for the entire semiconductor sector. NVIDIA is expected to showcase its second-generation co-packaged optical (CPO) switches.
There are also reports that the semiconductor industry may experience another round of price increases.
According to the Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily, mature process wafer foundries such as UMC, World Advanced, and Powerchip are expected to raise prices starting as early as April, with increases of up to 10% or more. Among them, World Advanced’s price increase notice indicates that they plan to adjust foundry prices from April 2026, but did not disclose the specific increase, and the company has not responded to the price hike. Powerchip confirmed that it has been gradually raising prices since this quarter, mainly adjusting products with lower gross margins.
In individual stocks, Jinyang Solar’s stock price increase was mainly driven by profit turnaround and breakthroughs in semiconductor business. Jinyang Solar expects to achieve a net profit of 19 million to 24.5 million yuan for 2025, a significant year-on-year increase. Additionally, its equity affiliate Linghang Electronics achieved major breakthroughs and secured orders for its core product, tungsten polishing liquid, at leading domestic chip manufacturing plants. Meanwhile, the company’s collaboration project with the China Academy of Space Technology has been completed.
Everbright Securities pointed out that the semiconductor industry is entering a new AI-driven cycle. The three waves of generative AI, agent-based AI, and physical intelligence are driving chip demand across consumer (AIPC/phones), enterprise (AI servers), and industrial sectors (autonomous driving). Against the backdrop of increased certainty in storage chip expansion, geopolitical factors are deeply reshaping the industry chain landscape, accelerating domestic substitution in mature fields. Domestic companies are gradually breaking international monopolies through technological upgrades and capacity expansion, injecting new growth momentum into the industry.
