The 98th Academy Awards ceremony was held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, USA. The Best Actor award went to Michael B. Jordan for his role in “Sinners”; the Best Actress award was won by Jessie Buckley for her performance in “Hamnet.”

Michael B. Jordan said, “I’m able to stand here because of the support from my predecessors,” and “Thank you all for your continued support. I will keep working hard. To all the friends who watched this movie… it’s you who made this film possible.”

The main characters in “Sinners” are twin brothers, both played by Michael B. Jordan. The story depicts their return to their hometown after experiencing World War I and the Chicago gang era, only to discover the appearance of blood-sucking zombies in their hometown.

Jessie Buckley thanked director Chloé Zhao and original author Maggie O’Farrell, saying, “They introduced me to this brilliant woman and set me on a journey to understand the power of maternal love.”

With her moving performance of losing a child in “Hamnet,” Buckley won the Golden Globe (Drama), BAFTA, American Critics Choice Award, and Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Actress, becoming the first Irish actress to win the Oscar for Best Actress.
