On the 14th, Iran’s Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian said in an interview with the media that the Strait of Hormuz is actually open, only closed to enemies of Iran.

Abdollahian stated that the Strait of Hormuz is only closed to oil tankers and ships from countries and allies that attack Iran. “Ships from other countries can pass freely, although many choose not to for safety reasons, but that has nothing to do with us.”

He emphasized that there are still oil tankers and ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. “Therefore, I can say the strait is not closed; it is only closed to ships and oil tankers from the United States and Israel, not to other countries.”

The Strait of Hormuz is a critical global energy shipping route. Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Moojtaaba, stated on the 12th that Iran will continue to use the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz as a countermeasure against the United States. U.S. President Donald Trump posted on social media on the 14th that the U.S. will launch a fierce attack on Iran’s coastline and that the Strait of Hormuz will be opened “very soon.” (CCTV Reporter: Li Jiannan, Jiang Haoyu)
