IT House, March 9 — According to CCTV News on the evening of March 8, Liao Xiangzhong, member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and Secretary of the Party Committee of Communication University of China, stated that last year, the university cut 16 undergraduate majors and programs all at once, including translation and photography. Because the future is an “era of human-machine division of labor,” educational reform is urgent, and classroom teaching needs a thorough overhaul.

Liao Xiangzhong said, “Changes in form, content, and also in mindset. Where are the knowledge points in this course? What are the difficulties? How does it connect with the future? We also need to find solutions. Leave the rest to AI, and let students learn.”

Liao Xiangzhong mentioned that after the emergence of Seedance 2.0 this year, he was very shocked and wondered what the future holds.

IT House checked the official announcement on the Communication University of China’s website and found that the university plans to eliminate seven undergraduate majors by 2025, including International Economics and Trade, Sociology, and others. Based on this statement, it is expected that the university will cut all 16 newly disclosed undergraduate majors and programs in one go when recruiting in 2026.
